It was a no-Math Sunday night for the Faculty of Engineering last 31 August 2008. That groovy, glamorous, and rocking “ENGgrande” night indeed made the Thomasian engineering students united as they all shared fun and excitement in Metro Bar, West Avenue, Quezon City.
The Engineering Night was sparked with an invocation by the Faculty of Engineering’s Chorale, One Voice, who sang the “Ama Namin” then followed by a much exciting performance by the Engineering Dance Troupe together with Engineer Butch Carbonell and the Engineering Student Council.
The oath-taking and induction of officers also took place and was led by Engineer Joseph Lopez Ph. D. There were games and Special Awards wherein Gertrude Arquillo won the Ms. Devil wears Prada award as the most fashionable lady of the night and Richard Tacogue as her counterpart got the Mr. 007 award.
Different bands, most of which are a collaboration of Thomasian musicians, namely Drive B (purely engineering students), Technotep, Out of Body Special, and Join the Club (students from the Conservatory of Music), rocked the house. Biboy Renia, Join the Club’s lead vocalist, raised the excitement to the nth level when he swam in the pool of audiences, allowed their fans to take his pictures, and sang Eraserheads’ songs.
Spongecola, albeit not Thomasians, also made the eng’g students scream for more music while DJ Kimosave was the last to groove the night with his Mobile Dancing.
Unlike the past Engineering Nights, according to Engineer Joseph Lopez Ph. D., this event was participated with much more students and was prepared with more presentations. The Engineering Students’ Council and their Special Projects Committee joined forces to make that groovy, glamorous, and rocking night really grandiose, or as how we put it in Filipino, “ENGgrande”.
