The first pair of candidates to compete for year 2011’s Search for the Ideal Quadricentennial Thomasian Personality was named as the Faculty of Engineering hailed Dan Angelo Sandiko and Marielle Eina Lopez as Mr. and Ms. Ideal Engineering Personality.
Organized by the Engineering Divisions Student Alliance headed by it’s President, Verlin Jan Molina, this year’s Engineering Pageant surely met a lot of pressures, knowing that whoever will be heralded as Mr. and Ms. Ideal Engineering Personality will be their College’s prospect for the 2011’s Search for the Ideal Quadricentennial Thomasian Personality. However, Molina is confident of Sandiko and Lopez for they came from the “best batch of candidates” that he ever witnessed.
Molina describes this year’s Engineering Pageant with statements such as “good production” and “good candidates”. “The candidates indeed exerted much effort for this pageant. They even doubled the efforts of the organizers. It’s really hard to choose who among them should bag the title,” Molina affirmed.
As for the theme “White Light,” the candidates were dubbed as “Angels”. The idea according to Molina was conceptualized soon after the wrath of the typhoon Ondoy hit the Metro. The typhoon’s aftermath made them thought of producing “Angels of Hope” in this year’s Engineering Pageant.
In line with the theme, candidates from different majors were dubbed as:
Angels of Prayers (Electronics and Communication Engineering)
Angels of Destiny (Engineering Science)
Angels of Kids (Civil Engineering)
Angels of the Environment (Industrial Engineering)
Angels of the Animals (Computer Sciences)
Angels of the Exam (Information Systems)
Angels of Love (Chemical Engineering)
Angels of Healing (Electrical Engineering)
Conscience (Mechanical Engineering)
Angels of War (Information Technology)
Special Awards were given to Kristine Mallari, Marielle Eina Lopez, and Jonathan Civil for Best in Uniform; Shannel Alano and Jonathan Civil for Best in Casual Wear; Airalynne Torres and Dan Angelo Sandiko for Best in Sports Wear; Jodilly Pendre and Dan Angelo Sandiko for Mr. and Ms. Photogenic; and Lira Casacop and Erick Joseph Perez for Best in Talent.
The candidates who advanced in the Top Five were Marielle Eina Lopez, Airalynne Torres, Shannel Alano, Jodilly Pendre, and Lira Casacop for the Female Category, and Julius Caesar Abanilla, Jonathan Civil, Erick Joseph Perez, Dan Angelo Sandiko, and Rommel Alexander Guevarra for the Male Category. “How can a Thomasian Engineer be an Angel of Light and Hope in relation to the forthcoming national elections?” was the question that tested who among these ten candidates deserved the title Ideal Thomasian Engineering Personality.
The Search for the Ideal Thomasian Engineering Personality was held last February 13, 2010 in the Medicine Auditorium, San Martin De Porres Building; hosted by Guggles Reyes, Jeffrey Espineli, and Margielyn Asilo, Public Relations Officer of the Central Student Council.
