What qualifies you to be the first Thomasian Youth Ambassadress?

“I would not have been able to join the TYAA in the first place if I had not passed the requirements such as a good moral character and good grades but besides that matter, what really makes me an ambassadress? I was probably in the 3rd or 4th grade when I learned about the word “Ambassador” and when I knew about It, I instantly thought that I would like to become one someday. In fact, I was delighted when I heard that the contest’s name was changed to Thomasian Youth Ambassador & Ambassadress because I love joining causes and I thought “Hey, If I become the ambassadress of UST more student would actually hear me out and I can not only represent the Thomasian student body, for that is the task for the student councils, but I can also encourage the students to join and support valuable causes (especially the ones that are for the environment).”

How do you value education?

“I believe that in our world today, we need not only workers but professionals thus we need quality over our lives and what better way to achieve that than by taking our education seriously? I always remind myself that our parents worked hard to give us quality education and soon enough we would be doing the same for our children so I, as a young yet mature student, take in as much of the lessons I learned and will learn so I can strive to be the best in my profession and not settle for mediocrity.”

How can you share the light of education to the indigenous people?

“In my opinion, the way of living of the indigenous people should not be tampered in almost every way except for their education. They do have their own traditions and ways of living but by teaching them the same academic knowledge that we know today, one, we could help them survive if ever the “winds of change” hit them and force them to live among the “educated” people, two, we can help them make sure that they do not become oppressed by people who think they know better because now, even the indigenous people know the advances of our modern culture. By being able to give them education, we shed our light into their minds, letting them broaden their understanding and share this light from neighbor, to neighbor.”

Why should the Thomasian community vote for you?

“Firstly, I did not take my joining of the Mr. & Ms. CFAD pageant lightly. Unlike others who would say that they were there “just for the experience” or “just for the fame”, I wanted to win to be heard. I wanted to be given the chance to give a voice to the students when others are afraid to do so and I believe that becoming an ambassadress gives me a chance to do exactly that.”

“Education is not merely the installment of knowledge, but the inspiration to the constant pursuit to enlightenment in one’s lifetime. True education is constantly present in the life of a man. In the end, what truly matters is how one appreciates and nourishes his personal growth with what the world has to offer him, and that is what must be known by all, that living is learning.”

“Sharing is to connect with others, requiring only the simplest means of communication between two human beings, talking. Despite the lack of personal communication in the modern world, a short speech in a person’s mother tongue or a strong bond of friendship can provide impact consequential to a domino effect, giving ideas and information that would cascade to all generations within a community. Inspiring and also believing in our fellow natives to learn and be educated can do wonders and could yield to unimaginable results.”
