What qualifies you to be the first Thomasian Youth Ambassadress?
“An ambassador, by definition, is a person who exemplifies the best of what a group, organization, or country has to offer. Since joining the Thomasian family as a BS Nursing student back in 2009, I have strived to live up to the University’s core values of commitment, compassion and competence, and demonstrate the said values in my daily life be it at home, in school or in my community. If and when given the opportunity to serve as the first Thomasian Ambassadress, I will dedicate a considerable amount of time and effort in promoting UST’s mission, particularly in the area of Catholic education.”
How do you value education?
“I have willingly invested time, effort, and sleepless nights in pursing an Education in order to achieve my goals in life in the hopes of having better possibilities – not just for me, but for the people I may be able to help in the future. I believe that that investment in knowledge, coupled with a sincere passion for learning is what drives me to do the best that I can in my Medical Education.”
How can you share the light of education to the indigenous people?
“I believe education is the great equaliser. It is a fact, however, that education has evolved into a luxury that certain disadvantaged members of society cannot afford. As one of the privileged few who can pursue their dreams without worrying that much about the resources needed to cover tuition, books and other related expenses, I believe it is my duty to take steps, no matter how small, to improve the plight of indigenous children who, just like me, dream of becoming productive members of society one day. If and when chosen to be the first Thomasian Ambassadress, I will spearhead student-led initiatives geared towards: widening access to primary education and improving existing resources in order to make this happen.”
Why should the Thomasian community vote for you?
“I have always wanted to be a part of something that commits itself to making a difference in other peoples’ lives. I believe that aside from offering the usual idealistic approach in promoting TYA’s program for primary education, I can try, and will try to create something that is realistic as well – something that is creative, interesting, and enticing, but at the same time, simple and definitely achievable.”
